AID There will be four aid stations located every 3-4 miles, which will be used multiple times throughout the race. Each station will have firepits going. Drop bag locations will be located at the start and horse trailer aid stations, which runners will pass two times on any lap.
COURSE 50 Mile/50K/25K
This is a suburban course through a beautiful park.
All races are on trails with 2 miles of single track, although the south end of the course runs like a single track due to the horses.
All races will start at 15501 Murphy Lake Road, Savage, MN.
There will be one loop of 16.96 miles. The 25K will be one loop, the 50K will be two loops, and the 50 mile will be three loops. Click here for a course map (PDF) or JPG. These events are to be competitive and fun. They will be official races; however, most of the prizes and awards will be for costumes to go along with the Halloween theme.
The weather could be anywhere from the 30s with snow to the 60s and sunny as it was last year. The run will lap back to the parking area in the entire course, so if you need to get shelter in your car, you can. We will also have the ski lodge with wood stove at the starting area and a fire pit at the other main aid station at the horse trailer parking area.
We will have the usual foods; chips, PBJ sandwiches, etc., plus Hammer Nutrition products, including Hammer Gel and HEED. CAMPING We have rented the horse trailer campsite at Murphy Hanrehan for the night of October 25, 2013. You can use a tent or bring a camper. If you would like to camp at the park, please contact Elyse Anderson at eanderson@mnscsc.org so that we can keep track of the number of campers.
REGISTRATION & FEES Registration will open June 1, 2013. The fee will include aid, a commemorative shirt, and a medal. Registration deadline is October 5. The 25K is capped at 100 runners.
