The Savage 100

The Savage 100 will be the first 100-mile/100K trail run in the Minnesota metro area. Coordinating this race is a team of people, many of whom are 100-mile finishers, that have hosted Surf the Murph, a 25K/50K/50-Mile run for the past five years on this very course.

There will be two race start times for the 100 Mile at 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014, and end on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Time limit is 34 hours from the 3 a.m. start time. The 100K will start at 6 a.m.
The racecourse may change due to environmental factors, please reffer to the map below for the most current trail.  The race will start and end at Murphy Hanrehan Park, 15501 Murphy Lake Road, Savage, MN   55378. The 100 mile racecourse will be six 16.7-mile loops, the 100K will be four loops. The course will be 60 miles of rolling hills and 40 miles of relatively flat terrain. The trails are difficulty rating of 3 and a terrain rating of 3.
Parking will be approximately 100 yards from start/finish.

The distance between each of the aid stations will be at approximately 4.08 miles, 3.37 miles and 7.41 miles on each lap plus the finish and start station. Aid stations will include the usual food and beverage, however, please supplement your needs with your own supplies. Drop bags will be at the start, finish, plus at horse camp aid station. Crews are welcome as long as they are respectful of the event.  Please see the aid station map to get the correct location for aid stations only, the race map continues to change due to environmental factors. 
All pacers will need to check in with race staff before entering the race.
Pacers do not need to register or pay a race fee. 
Pacers are allowed starting with the fourth loop.
No muling (carrying anything for your runner)
Dogs are not allowed as part of this race. Dogs are allowed in designated areas of the park. Please read the signs and obey park rules. All dogs must be on a leash. Park staff and police will be present to enforce all park rules.
  • Please bring flashlights and/or headlamps. They will be needed on the course.
  •  Check the weather a few days prior to the event for proper attire. Temperature ranges from 40 to 80 degrees.
  • There will be no official hotel/motel for the race. Please access information on places to stay via the internet.
  • Rules of the park include the same rules as any public park in the US, which includes no littering, no alcohol, no illegal substances or anything else considered illegal.
We have rented the horse trailer campsite at Murphy Hanrehan for the nights of May 16-17, 2014. You can use a tent or bring a camper. If you would like to camp at the park, please contact Jessie Hogan at so that we can keep track of the number of campers.
Fees include aid stations, administrative support, park fees, course management, and jackets and finishers awards.
The race will be limited to 125 entries.

Registration deadline is April 30, 2014. No late registrations will be accepted. There are no refunds for any reason.
